A soon-to-marry couple are facing a huge wedding day conflict – because their favourite football teams will meet in the Champions League final that day.
Bride-to-be Abby Norman, a die-hard Liverpool fan, is set to marry avid Tottenham fan James Alexander on June 1.
And she says she fully expects to be upstaged by the big game between the teams, Plymouth Live reports .
The mum-of-two from Plymouth says there's no question that she would be watching the game on the day.
The only problem was that her venue, Polhawn Fort, is in a rural area on top of a cliff – with limited signal.
The 29-year-old said: "When we found out the Champions League Final was on our wedding day we were disappointed we would miss it. But once I knew Liverpool were playing there’s no way I’m not going to watch.
"I did make a joke on Facebook that if Liverpool don’t win there might be an annulment on the cards."
She continued: "The way Tottenham were playing during their last game, I thought that was it and they weren’t going to get to the final anyway. But they came back and scored in the final minutes.
"We are all in shock to be honest. Loads of guests have been calling and texting to ask whether we will be watching the game and if the venue will have enough signal.
"So I’m going up there to check that we can play it in advance. We have to watch that game – there’s no way we are going to miss it.
"The management told me that the signal isn’t fantastic so if we don’t give anyone the WiFi password we should be ok – so I will be banning people from using the internet."
Abby and James have two children, Jude, who is eight and Dolly, two.
She continued: "James and I met through friends on a night out. He proposed in November 2017 on my birthday.
"We have this thing were if we’ve had an argument we go for a coffee and walk on Plymouth Hoe.
"So after my birthday meal we went for a coffee and he got down on one knee. We booked the venue two or three months later and didn’t think about the final despite being big football fans."
Asked if she was worried about having an empty dance floor during the game, Abby said: "No because I won’t be on it – I’ll be watching the game myself."
She continued: "Luckily we are having the same guests to the evening so new people won’t be arriving that I’ll have to mingle with.
"Organising the wedding has been stressful. The most stressful thing has been organising the men.
"I left it quite late because I thought it would be easy but getting them to the fitting and putting them together has been a nightmare.
"Some of them haven’t picked up their suits and they’ve only got a few days before they can’t be altered any longer. I am glad I don’t have to do it again."
Speaking about her team, Abby added: "To be honest it wasn’t an option not to be a Liverpool fan because my dad is a huge fan. I was bought up having to support them.
"For as long as I can remember we’ve been watching the football on the TV. I don’t think there’s ever been such a big rivalry between me and my partner – not that I can remember."
Football fever is set to take over the wedding with a number of Champions League final themed aspects to the day.
"As my wedding favours I have bought Cancer Research charity badges, all the men have football ones. Also for the ceremony, instead of having family seating sides I’m having Liverpool side and Tottenham side," said Abby.
"People pick a team to sit with, on each chair is a free drink ticket with the club name on, whoever wins the Champions League can take their winning ticket to the bar to claim a free drink.
"Will be interested how many people pick Spurs and how many pick the better team, Liverpool.
"We have ordered flags and scarfs for during the match so people can pick a team to support. We will also be running a score sweepstake. It’s going to be so much fun."
