A British teenager has been found dead in the pool of a Majorca villa where she was staying.
The tourist, believed to be 18, was found at the bottom of the pool by a relative early this morning.
A neighbour reportedly heard shouting and dialled 999 at around 7am.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and tried to revive her but were unable to save her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tragedy happened at a holiday villa in the small town of Alaro at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains.
A source at a regional government-run emergency services coordination centre said the woman was British and the British consulate had been informed.
She is known to have been staying at the villa with her mum and possibly other relatives.
It is not yet known why she got into difficulties in the water and what could have led to her death.
