Boyfriend ‘in tears’ after his girlfriend pulled a ‘cruel’ prank she deemed hilarious at the beach – as critics argue over who is in the wrong
- An Australian man was given dissolving swimming trunks by his girlfriend
- He was body shamed and made fun of for hours before finally clothing himself
An Australian man was ‘trapped and humiliated’ by his girlfriend on a beach vacation with her friends and family.
The man, 20, was excited to meet his partner’s family for the first time on a holiday to Queensland.
His girlfriend, 20, of eight months had meticulously planned the week-long trip – so he did not think twice before using the spare pair of swimming trunks she packed for him.
But he soon discovered that it was a ‘prank pair’ that dissolved in water – and he was left nude for the majority of a day in front of their fifteen travel companions.
‘I felt so awkward and embarrassed, there was nothing I could do,’ he said.

The man shared his story – which has since been deleted – on a popular Reddit forum.
‘On the third day of the trip, we planned to go river floating. I went to change and couldn’t find my trunks – but I saw a new navy blue pair.’
The girlfriend revealed that she carried an extra pair in case he lost his, and the man was touched by her thoughtfulness.
‘We all got into our tubes and started floating off,’ he wrote. ‘About three minutes in I feel my suit getting baggier, and I I even notice a piece is falling off.’
The man was originally just disappointed that she bought him a cheap pair, but the truth was soon revealed when he felt a rush of cold water and saw that his trunks had partially dissolved.
‘Everyone else, about 15 of her friends and family, started to laugh. I was absolutely horrified, one of my biggest fears is being naked in public, and now I was completely nude with no way to get back.’
The man was forced to expose himself to his girlfriend’s family as they laughed at him and pointed.
He revealed that her younger cousins poked fun at the ‘shape and size’ of his private parts and made jokes.

‘When we got back to the beach I had to run covering myself back to my towel. My day was completely ruined. I felt humiliated and angry. When we got back to our room my girlfriend started giggling to herself.’

It was then that his girlfriend admitted to the prank: she had deliberately ordered dissolving trunks and refrained from packing a towel or another pair.
‘I was absolutely livid. She had purposefully exposed and violated me because she thought it’d be a good laugh. I started yelling and she told me to calm down, saying that it was only a joke.’
The man left Queensland that night, and woke up to a call from his girlfriend screaming and calling him immature.
‘I didn’t want to be around someone who would humiliate me, especially considering that her own family and friends would be present. I can understand that I ruined the trip for her, but it feels like her own fault.’

Many were appalled by how ‘awful’ the man’s girlfriend acted.
‘I really hate the trend of humiliating people you’re supposed to care for.’
‘Not just humiliation – this is sexual assault,’ another added. ‘She forced him to be naked in front of people he didn’t know well. He was subjected to crude ‘jokes’ about his body.’
‘If a guy did this to a 20-year-old woman, he would be destroyed. This is no prank. It’s a crime.’
‘No one who truly loved you would ever take joy in your suffering. This woman exposed you, traumatized you, and did nothing to try to stop the hours of torment and embarrassment she put in motion.’
‘It’s so much worse that no one helped him after they realised he was embarrassed and not finding it funny at all.’
