Asda August Bank Holiday opening hours – what time are stores open?

ASDA shoppers looking to head to the supermarket this bank holiday weekend should check opening hours before making a special trip.

We explain all you need to know if you need to pick up some essentials at the supermarket over the August bank holiday weekend.

The August bank holiday itself falls on the final day of the month, August 31, and always takes place on the last Monday of August.

The bank holiday was first introduced to give us all a bit more time to enjoy the sunny summer.

Up until 197,1 it always took place on the first Monday of August, but it was eventually moved as it clashed with the traditional two week shut-down that many companies went through in the summer.

What time is Asda open over the bank holiday weekend?

Asda's website and social media accounts don't detail any special notices about the bank holiday weekend.

But on previous three-day bank holiday weekends it has closed early on Saturdays and the bank holiday day itself, while Sunday trading hours have remained as normal.

We've asked Asda to confirm what's happening for this August bank holiday weekend and we'll update this story as soon as we get a response.

In the meantime, it's best to check if your local store is open and at what times using Asda's store locator tool.

Does Asda offer online delivery?

Yes, Asda offers an online delivery service via its website.

It appears Asda's home deliveries will continue to be made over the bank holiday weekend; when The Sun checked one London address we found delivery slots available on both Sunday August 30 and Monday August 31.

Delivery costs vary depending on the date and time, and you'll also be charged £3 on top on home orders under £40, or £3 on top on click and collect orders under £25.

When are the bank holiday dates for 2020?

There are two more bank holidays in England and Wales after August 31, which are:

  • Friday, December 25 (Christmas Day)
  • Monday, December 28 (substitute Boxing Day)

Dates in Scotland and Northern Ireland vary.

Some of the biggest annual sales launch this weekend, here’s where to shop smart.

It's unlikely you'll get to enjoy hot weather this weekend though, as a "polar plunge" is set to bring -1C frost in what could be the coldest August bank holiday in 40 years.
