7 secrets Mrs Hinch shares in her memoirs – from her sex life to being trolled

Mrs Hinch has garnered 3.6 million followers by sharing cleaning tips on Instagram.

But her handy hacks aren’t the only reason why fans love her.

Over the years, they’ve grown to adore Sophie Hinchcliffe – who is the person behind the popular page.

And to their delight, they’ve all been able to learn more about the popular influencer thanks to her new book.

Sophie released her memoirs, titled This Is Me, earlier this month.

The book has become a best-seller and fans are pleased they’ve been able to get to know the “real” Mrs Hinch.

Mrs Hinch speaks about all manner of candid topics in her memoirs.

Here are seven topics she speaks about with brutal honesty – from her childhood, to motherhood and having sex.

On childhood

Mrs Hinch was born in Basildon, Essex and grew up in a friendly neighbourhood that felt like “a very safe place to be”.

She says she was “messy, scatty, clumsy and impulsive as a child” who was adored by her parents.

Sophie explained: “We weren’t ‘rich’ by any means while we were growing up, but mum and dad made sure we wanted for nothing and there was always a massive amount of love in our home.”

While she felt “safe” and “warm” at home, the Instagram star struggled when she started secondary school.

She admits her friends group “started to exclude (her) in a pretty harsh way”.

She added: “Every morning I’d go into school on tenterhooks, feeling sick not knowing if I was going to be included that day or not… a lot of the time I got the silent treatment."

This made Sophie dread going to school for a few years.

But thankfully, she managed to find a better group when she was a teenager.

The group of five call each other the “kids” and remain friends to this day.

On meeting her husband Jamie

Mrs Hinch met her husband Jamie when she started working at a sales company – and he was in charge of training her.

After a few months of flirting, they realised their relationship was more than friendship.

Jamie plucked up the courage to ask Sophie out, which is where their romance began.

Sophie recalled: “About nine months after we first met, it was Jamie who made the first move when he sent me an email asking if I fancied getting something to eat after work.

“Obviously I was screaming on the inside but tried to play it cool.”

The pair fell head over heels for one another and moved in together in 2016.

A year later, they got engaged and tied the knot at a glamorous ceremony at Gosfield Hall.

Sophie added: “Being married hasn’t changed us as a couple although we definitely feel like more of a team.

“I love referring to ‘my husband’. It still gives me a little tingle. I have a husband!”

On finding out she was pregnant

Sophie had stopped thinking about falling pregnant after a few months of trying.

But when she went over to visit her family one night, her mum had a feeling she may be expecting.

Mrs Hinch wrote: “One evening in October, I went round to my mum’s ouse for a cup of tea an she seemed oddly concerned about how I was behaving.

“I said I felt a bit tired and was planning on going home and curling up on the sofa for the evening.

“She looked at me straight in the eye and said: ‘Do a pregnancy test, Soph’.”

The Instagram star didn’t think it was possible but did as her mum told her.

It was at that moment she found out she was expecting her first child – who has now grown up to be a one-year-old called Ronnie.

Sophie added: “A few minutes later I was sitting there staring at the word ‘pregnant’ on the digital screen.

“I couldn’t believe my mum new before I did!”

On the challenges of motherhood

Mrs Hinch and her husband Jamie adore their son Ronnie more than anything in the world.

But like with any parents, they admit raising a child can be hard work.

Sophie said: “(There’s) the enormous guilt you feel and can’t shake, however hard you try. I’m constantly battling that.”

“I couldn’t love him any more but I question myself all the time.

"Should I be doing this? Should I know the answer to that? Have I done something wrong? Should we have done something differently there? Is this what’s best for him?

“And worry as well. Worry upon worry!”

On her sex life

Sophie revealed fears that her sex life would wane after she gave birth to her son Ronnie.

Thankfully, these worries weren't realised as her marriage to 41-year-old Jamie Hinchcliffe is stronger than ever.

She wrote: “I had the same worries I’m sure a lot of partners have after they’ve given birth.

“I was concerned about us losing our spark and Jamie not seeing me in the same way as he did before."

Mrs Hinch continued: “Let’s just say he spent a lot of my labour down ‘that’ end watching Ronnie being born and I wondered if he was ever going to be able to find me as attractive again after that.

“But it turns out my worrying was needless and we’ve actually been the exact opposite. Our relationship is stronger than ever.

“If I’m randomly sitting there looking at him he’ll say: ‘Are you flirting with me?’ and one thing leads to another and it all starts from there.”

Sophie, from Essex, cheekily added a way that she knows her marriage is on a good path.

She said: “As long as you want to rip each other’s clothes off more than you want to rip each other’s heads off then you’ll be alright.”

On trolls

In her memoirs, Mrs Hinch speaks candidly about the impact trolls have had on her life.

The online abuse she receives from a small minority of people is so vile it has impacted the influencer’s mental health.

Sophie said: “The truth is, away from my life you see on Instagram, these people have almost destroyed me, and the fact that I am on medication for depression and anxiety for the first time in my life is largely down to what they have put me through…

“I know I’m being watched by lots of people who love me (and who I love right back!) and that 98% of those who follow me I am blessed to have in my life.

“But there are people in my life who make fun of me, pick apart everything I do, analyse every move I make and pull me apart for the things I say, for my appearance and for the way I speak.”

Sophie added: “I might feel like the trolls have broken me in the past, but I promise you, I’m piecing myself back together.

“I’m stronger now than I’ve ever been and I will fight this.

“I won’t be silenced and they won’t win.”
