People are shocked to realize there's another way to load cutlery into the dishwasher and it makes the chore much easier | The Sun

YOU may think you've been loading your cutlery into the dishwasher correctly, but there's another way you'll have to try.

In a video on TikTok, a woman shared how she's been making her life easier with a little-known hack – but not everyone's convinced it's a good idea.

The woman, posting under the handle @blondebutterfly2, revealed she was "today years old" when she realised she could open up her cutlery holder.

She first demonstrated how most people load their cutlery into the rack before showing off her new trick.

While showing what do, she said: "If you turn it the other way and you open it up, boom they go horizontal."

The video has been viewed more than 5 million times, racking up more than 137,000 likes and over 1,160 comments.

But viewers weren't so convinced her idea was the most practical – or would actually wash the cutlery at all.

One person said: "Wrong… water won't wash the utensil except the one facing down first…see the manual".

Another joked: "Ain’t nobody got time for dat."

Others said her method didn't work because they had too many pieces to wash.

Someone said: "That’s cool for people who have five pieces of silverware lol."

In one case, someone said they couldn't handle how it looked.

They wrote: "I’m so OCD all my spoons go in one thing all forks in another .. all knives .. and so on lol I CANNOT mix them like u did lolol."

Her advice comes after a little-known feature of dishwashers left many people shocked after they learned the top racks are adjustable.

A video featuring the simple adjustment shows how you can maximize the appliance's usefulness while saving time and space.

"That the top level of dishwashers could go down," the video continues.

The TikToker proceeds to lower the top dish rack via side levers so that the contents do not hit the roof of the appliance once the drawer is pushed in.
