Kate Middleton was born 40 years ago on January 9, 1982 in Berkshire where she grew up with her younger siblings Pippa and James Middleton. Her parents, Carole and Michael Middleton sent the Duchess to Marlborough College where other royals such as Princess Eugenie attended. Kate later took a gap year and then chose to study History of Art at the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland.
There she met Prince William and the couple began dating in 2003.
William proposed in 2010 and they married a few months later on April 29, 2011.
When Kate married William 11 years ago in Westminster Abbey, she became the Duchess of Cambridge.
From the moment she walked out of her carriage in a Sarah Burton wedding dress, to 10 years later appearing in a shimmering gold Jenny Packham dress at the James Bond premiere, the Duchess has massively impacted the British fashion industry.
Tomorrow Kate is turning 40 years old after spending the last 11 years as a working member of the Royal Family. But what are the Duchess’ best looks so far?
Daena Borrowman, Marketing Manager at jewellerybox spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about Kate’s most popular style moments.
She said: “All of Kate’s outfits have been under worldwide public scrutiny during her transition from a royal love interest, to a royal bride, to the new Duchess of Cambridge and now, one of the most fashionable Queens-in-waiting ever.
“Despite thousands of jaw-dropping looks from Kate, one look from a little over a decade ago still lives in our minds – her wedding dress.
“It feels like yesterday that we saw her get out of the bridal car and walk down the aisle of Westminster Abbey and share a kiss with Prince William on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in THAT regal Victorian £250,000 Alexander McQueen gown.
“It has made fashion history and will live in our minds forever,” the expert noted.
Daena commented on another one of the Duchess’ best ever style moments as a member of the Royal Family.
She continued: “Kate’s second most sensational look involved her very own Bond girl moment.
“Attending the premiere of ‘NoTime To Die’, she flaunted a very apt Jenny Packham X 007 Collection gold evening gown worth £3,917.
“The heavily embellished gold number was both mesmerising and significant because it was most reminiscent of Kate’s late mother-in-law, Princess Diana’s own Bond premiere dress from 1985 – metallic, with a powerful shoulder and exuding all the aura of a future Queen.”
During the last year, Kate had a number of exciting outfits.
These included her re-wearing a beautiful lilac gown to her husband, Prince William’s Earthshot Awards in October.
The look, created by one of the royal’s favourite designer houses, Alexander McQueen, featured a wide boat neck collar before it fell elegantly to the floor, cinched at the waist with an ornate belt.
Kate first wore this beautiful number in Los Angeles in 2011, 10 years earlier.
Kate also wore an emerald green embellished sparkly dress to the Royal Variety Performance in November.
The dress, also designed by Jenny Packham, was first worn by the Duchess in 2019 on her royal tour to Pakistan.
