AN ETIQUETTE expert has shared the correct ways to eat food while in public, but trolls have savagely mocked her for it.
Jo Bryant works as an etiquette tutor under director William Hanson at The English Manner, which is the UK’s most established institute for this field.
Taking to the company’s social media account, Jo explained that eating peas can be “quite tricky”, but there is a correct way to do it.
Warning people to never turn their forks over to scoop peas onto it, she shared: “The correct way instead is to make sure you use your knife and with that you can spear them a few at a time.
“Alternatively, you can also squash them onto the back of the fork.
“The knife is really important to help you and, actually, it’s quite a secure mouthful.”

In another clip, Jo sat in the same position with a bowl full of potato and leek soup in front of her.
Picking up her spoon, she shared: “The correct way is to hold it [the spoon] like this, with the handle resting here and it resting between your fingers.”
She explained that you can use the method of resting the handle in the space between your thumb and forefinger on the hand as well.
And in a third video, Jo revealed the correct way to eat the side serving of bread and butter that’s given to you at a restaurant.

“Well, there is a correct etiquette for it,” she explained.
“We always eat the bread in our hands and we only use the knife for the butter. So we never cut the bread with the knife.”
TikTok user @theenglishmanner continued: “You pick it up in your hands and take a small piece. You then take your knife in your dominant hand and then you take a small piece of butter, you put it on.
“You put your knife back down on your plate with the blade facing to the left and then you enjoy”.
While the small lessons appear to be meant to help people level up their etiquette and manners while out and about, people couldn’t help but troll the “posh” rules she shared.
One person wrote: “I mean posh lol…”
Another said: “my food my bill my rules, to hell with etiquette,” as a third joked: “I put my knife down with the blade facing right once and the entire restaurant gasped”.
“Yeah, if you fail to do this, an etiquette police will come and arrest you,” a fourth wrote with a shocked emoji.
