Martha Stewart presented veteran publicist Susan Magrino with a Matrix Award on Monday — and the domestic powerhouse recalled their early adventures on the road during Stewart’s book tours since they started working together in the 1980s.
“Travels with Susan Magrino should be a book — or at least a reality-TV show,” quipped Stewart, recounting the time they “stopped off in Memphis to judge the whole hog at the barbecue,” and when they “stopped by John Grisham’s house unannounced early in the morning and had a Dom Pérignon brunch with him.”
Living on the edge, they even drove a light blue rented Cadillac convertible “out of the Los Angeles area despite clear instruction from the car rental place not to leave the city limits.”
Stylish Magrino — whom Stewart revealed is known by her grandkids as “Glam-ma”— appeared onstage with fellow honorees Padma Lakshmi, Norah O’Donnell, BET’s Jeanine Liburd and Hearst’s Kate Lewis.
Mika Brzezinski emceed the event.
