Madonna takes the stage to perform during a Pride event at Pier 97 on Sunday (June 30) in New York City.
“Since I came to New York as a wee-little girl, I have always been embraced by queer nation,” Madonna told the crowd during her performance. “I always felt like an outsider, but you made me feel like an insider, like somebody. So you must know how much I love and appreciate everyone here from the LGBTQ community.”
Madonna‘s set was 30 minutes long, and the second half featured some new material, including her controversial “God Control” song.
Madonna spoke about “gun safety and gun control which is disproportionately affecting marginalized communities,” before breaking out into the song, which has received criticism for depicting a shooting in the music video.
FYI: Madonna and her dancers are all wearing Versace.
