Love Island’s Amber Gill, Anthony Joshua and Alexa Chung lead stars in Black Lives Matter protests

Love Island star Amber Gill, Anthony Joshua and Alexa Chung have lead the stars in attending Black Lives Matter protests across the UK on Saturday 6 June.

Amber, who has been using her platform to raise awareness of issues around race since the tragic death of George Floyd, filmed herself walking through Parliament Square as she prepared to hand out care packages to fellow marchers, which she posted to her Instagram story.

The 21 year old, who was dressed in an orange hat with a black and orange hoodie and a face mask on, explained: “We are in Parliament Square and I’ve got my little orange hat on and this orange bag, if you’re looking for me, I’ve got the care packages that were in my last story.

“Parliament Square, did I say Parliament Square already? I don’t know.”

Moments before, Amber shared a Boomerang video of herself wearing a pair of socks and bright pink slider flip flops.

Explaining her idea behind the choice of footwear, she wrote on top of the clip: “Got bad blisters from the last protest so it’s socks and sliders in the rain,” followed by an upside down smiling face emoji.

The evening before, Amber had shares a video of tonnes of zip lock plastic food bags filled with water, face masks, antibacterial hand gel, sweets and chocolate.

Writing on top of the clip, she said: “Care packages for protests tomorrow”.

Amber, who attended a previous BLM protest earlier this week, added: “If you see you I will have these supplies”.

Meanwhile, professional boxer Anthony Joshua went live with his 11.3million Instagram followers to show the huge turn out for the protest in his local area of Watford, in Hertfordshire.

In the live clip, 30 year old Anthony took to the microphone to speak as he stood amongst hundreds of supporters in a peaceful protest in his local area.

Speaking in the live clip he said: “I’m gonna stand with my brothers and my sisters here and say we need to come together as a community.”

TV star Alexa Chung, 36, shared images and videos of a protest. One snap shows someone holding a protest sign with the words “f**k cops” written on the toes of their boots.

On the TV star's Instagram story, Alexa also shared a photo of a protestor holding up a sign which read: "This is not a trend," in the middle of a crowd.

A third post from Alexa saw a group of motorcyclists wearing black hoodies with the words: "Black Lives Matter," written on the front in white writing.

Model Suki Waterhouse also took to her Instagram to share a series of videos and photos of her at the protest in central London on her Instagram, including a snap of a sign which read: “Racism is small d**k energy”.
