Lorraine Kelly sends love to Chris Kamara as he opens up on challenging health struggles

Lorraine Kelly, 61, has taken to social media to send a message of support to TV presenter Chris Kamara, 63. The former footballer, who is also known as Kammy, told his Twitter followers he had been struggling with his health for the past 19 months.

He explained that seven months ago, he was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, also known as hypothyroidism.

As a result, Chris’ mental health was also impacted in recent months.

In view of his 1.7 million followers, he penned: “Last 19 months have been the most challenging of my life

“Before then I thought I was invincible.

“7 months ago i was diagnosed with an under active Thyroid.

“My mental health suffered because I didn’t let people know how I was feeling.

Chris concluded: “Don’t be a mug like me.”

The TV personality signed off his tweet with the hashtag #WorldMentalHealthDay, to mark the occasion.

In a show of support, Lorraine quote tweeted Chris’ message in view of her 658,000 followers.

She added: “Sending you so much love @chris_kammy – hope you are feeling better xxxx”

Chris also received words of encouragement from fans who replied to his tweet.

mini_tiger0810 wrote: “I have recently been diagnosed with an under active thyroid as well. Now on meds for it.

“I don’t think people realize how much it messes with your mental health.

“Anxiety and palpitations are my biggest struggles.

“Sending lots of love.”

“I had under active thyroid which then turned into thyroid cancer.

“I could never understand why I was always so tired, found myself over compensating when round friends which made it worse in the solo time.

“Took me two years to open up about it. Glad I did.” [sic]
