Kanye West is gearing up to release his latest album, Donda, and celebrated in a rather unusual way.

The star, 44, hosted a listening party in Soldier Field, Chicago, to mark the release of his latest record this week. Among the unusual ways he celebrated the latest album was ex wife Kim Kardashian coming out on stage wearing a wedding dress.

Kim appeared on the stage during the final song of the evening, titled No Child Left Behind, and appeared to be wearing a Balenciaga Couture dress and appeared to act in a wedding ceremony.

The couple – who are divorcing – share four children, North, eight, Saint, five, Chicago, three, and Psalm, two.

Despite the appearance to support her ex, sources told US publication TMZ that the pair aren't actually back together. The publication said: "Now, our sources with direct knowledge have told us for weeks the two are NOT back together… but they're forever family.

"Kim and Kanye have always supported the other's endeavours and will continue to do that in the future, whether it be a collaborative effort or not."

The pair's split was confirmed in March when they filed for divorce, after months of speculation as to whether they were still together.

Moments before Kim appeared on stage, Kanye appeared to set himself on fire on stage and had to be put out.

The rapper also had controversial guests in attendance including rapper DaBaby – who has been slammed for comments about HIV – and musician Marlyn Manson – who has recently been hit with abuse allegations.

At a previous listening party, it was claimed that Kanye introduced a track that appeared to claim Kim was still in love with him. The rapper previewed a new track for the album, seemingly titled “Lord I Need You”.

According to People, a line from the track says: “Time and space is a luxury / But you came here to show that you’re still in love with me.”

Kim, who recently said she's Kanye's "biggest fan" but wants a "real" relationship, has been in attendance at the rapper's listening parties for the album alongside their children.

Kim’s support for her former partner’s new release has her sharing videos on Instagram of the event to promote the album.

Last month Kanye had appeared to be breaking down while performing a song at a listening party, with him dropping to his knees and covering his face as his song “Love Unconditionally” was playing.

Lyrics from the track say: "I'm losing my family / I'm losing my family / I'm losing my family."

The song has since been updated though, with CNN and Buzzfeed claiming West now sings: "I'm losing all my family / Darling, come back to me."

"She's screaming at me / Honey, why could you leave? / Darling, how could you leave? / Come back tonight, baby / Come back tonight, darling, please / Darling, how could you leave?" they seemingly say.

The song itself begins with Kanye’s late mother, Donda West speaking and offering advice.

She says: "Two lessons that he passed along to his children,

"The first is that no matter what, you never abandon your family.

“The second was that no matter what, you love unconditionally."

A source speaking to E! News has said that Kanye previously warned Kim of the lyrics to the song.

They said: "He was respectful and gave her the heads up, and did not want to blindside her".
