Kevin Durant Claims Athletes Use Marijuana Because It Clears the Distractions

The Brooklyn Nets explains how he views marijuana and discusses its usage among athletes during his forthcoming appearance on Netflix’s ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman’.

AceShowbizKevin Durant discusses the usage of marijuana among athletes during his forthcoming appearance on Netflix’s “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman“. In the episode, the Brooklyn Nets star explained how he views marijuana and even compared it to having a “glass of wine.”

Kevin, who shares that he was high during the interview, told host David Letterman that weed “clears the distractions out of your brain a little bit.” He added, “It settles you down.”

The professional basketball player also said that he’s investing in cannabis tech platform Weedmaps via his Thirty Five Ventures. “We partner with them on content and trying to figure out ways to change the narrative around athletes and marijuana,” he explained.

The athlete further divulged that there will “be dispensaries everywhere” in New York City where people will be able to legally purchase marijuana in the next few years. He later criticized the unfairness of people still being locked up around the country for weed, saying, “And it’s even crazier that you got people in jail for 20 years for maybe selling a pound.”

This wasn’t the first time for Kevin to defend athletes for using weed. “In the sports world, it was kind of an undercover thing, that players used cannabis, and used it while they were actively playing,” Kevin shared previously. “And I always thought that was an interesting thing, even as I started to come into the league. Now you hear the conversation more and more around the league about it [cannabis].”

The “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman” episode featuring Kevin will be available on Friday, May 20. Other guests in season 4 include Billie Eilish, Ryan Reynolds, Will Smith, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Cardi B.
