Kelvin Fletcher, 36, was partnered with professional dancer Oti Mabuse, 30, on Strictly Come Dancing last year. The BBC duo wowed audiences with their sultry routines and show-stopping performances, so much so, the pair were crowned the winners.
Despite lifting the Glitterball Trophy, the former Emmerdale actor was initially not chosen to take part, before stepping in for injured contestant Jamie Laing.
Kelvin has today shared his rejection message from Strictly bosses.
It comes as the actor took part in a social media trend, “How It Started vs. How It’s Going,” where people share posts before and after they have succeeded.
In view of his 366,000 followers, Kelvin shared the Strictly refusal post alongside a snap of his win with Oti.
The message was marked under “How It Started”, read: “Hi… Good news. [We] loved Kelvin (I already was a fan).
“We think he’ll be great on the show. We are not able to offer for this year – it’s purely down to the lack of places and the right casting mix.
“Please tell Kelvin that next year we would love to chat to him again as he really did impress and this is something that we would like to look at again.”
The next post showed Kelvin alongside Oti lifting the Glitterball Trophy after winning in December.
The celebratory photo was underneath the post “How It’s Going”.
Kelvin captioned the post: “Life’s a funny thing.”
Celebrity pals and fans alike flocked to comment, as many people offered messages of support.
Fellow winner Stacey Dooley replied with a bouquet of flowers and a strong arm emoji.
Ore Oduba, who was also presented with the same prestigious disco ball gong, penned: “So good! Always believe!”

A fan commented: “By far the best celebrity dancer Strictly’s ever had.”
Another person remarked: “The universe always times things right.”
While a third person added: “And it was meant to be… you were amazing!”
Elsewhere, Kelvin recently left his fans in shock after he revealed his dramatic new moustache.
Posing for a photo in the woods, the actor quipped: “I woke up like this.”
He also shared a video via his Instagram Story and welcomed feedback, saying: “Comments welcome on my new tash!”
But some fans couldn’t take him seriously, as they inundated him with comments.
One follower remarked: “I know a website you can audition for.”
Another fan typed: “Better than the blonde… but no.”
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday at 7.10pm.
