Kate Garraway, 55, and Ranvir Singh, 43, are regular presenters on ITV’s Good Morning Britain. The latter has recently been announced to be taking part in the new series of Strictly Come Dancing 2020.

Ahead of Ranvir’s debut on the BBC show, the TV anchor spoke candidly about Kate and the advice she offered to her.

The GMB presenter explained that Kate advised her to “hit the ground running” when she finally takes to the Strictly dance floor.

Speaking about her ITV colleagues, Ranvir explained: “They were all really supportive.

“Kate had a good bit of advice. She said, ‘I should really commit to the training, that there’s a lot of laughter, but that it’s important to hit the ground running with the training and absorb what I’m being told.'”

It comes after Kate took part in Strictly back in 2007 when she was partnered with Anton Du Beke on the BBC show.

Ranvir also dished to this week’s HELLO! magazine, that she only shared details of her dance debut with her eight-year-old son Tushaan.

She commented: “You should have seen his little face – it lit up. I should have videoed it.

“He was so excited. I said we were going to have to keep it a secret together, which made it even more exciting.”

Ranvir will be joined by a host of famous faces on this year’s Strictly, including Nicola Adams, Clara Amfo and Jacqui Smith.

Elsewhere, her colleague Kate gave an update on her husband’s Derek’s condition as she confirmed her return to Smooth Radio yesterday.

It comes after the presenter took a leave of absence from her radio show earlier this year, when her husband Derek Draper contracted coronavirus.

In a new interview with You Magazine, Kate detailed her other half’s shock weight loss as he struggled to fight the virus.

She explained: “When I finally got to FaceTime him, seeing him unconscious was a big shock.

“He’s lost nearly eight stone in weight, a lot of it muscle throughout his body.”

Kate added: “He looked worn-out, thin and pale with dark circles under his eyes and there were lots of tubes.”

Meanwhile, Kate took to Instagram stories and shared that she was “delighted” to be returning to her morning radio show.

The mum-of-two shared a post from the Global radio station on her Story which read: “Kate Garraway returns to Smooth Radio.”

She went on to say that her life was far from normal and still “hugely challenging”, in an article on their website, which the post led to.

“Things are still hugely challenging and a long way from being normal,” Kate said before adding: “But I’d like to think that this will give Derek yet another opportunity to hear my voice as well as many of the songs we love.”

Derek contracted COVID-19 in March and remains in hospital after waking up from an induced coma in July.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star and Derek share two children together; Darcey, 14, and son Billy, 11.
