Joe Jonas’ celebrity career is quite interesting. He got his start in his family band, the Jonas Brothers, who ended up working with Disney for years, necessitating a squeaky clean and kid-friendly image. However, he and his brothers soon outgrew this image and moved their careers in different directions, with Jonas pursuing a solo career, then his own band. But in recent years, the Jonas Brothers have gotten back together, with a more adult image.
With this dichotomy between a clean image and embracing adulthood, the topic of the Jonas Brothers’ sex lives has come up again and again, even when they were working for Disney Channel. Since all of them are now married and some are welcoming kids, they have to have lost their virginity at some point — so how did Joe Jonas lose his?
Joe Jonas through the Years
Joe Jonas achieved his first fame in The Jonas Brothers, in 2005. This band consisted of him and his two brothers, Kevin and Nick, and they quickly became affiliated with the Disney Channel. This association led to acting careers for the three: they had two TV shows based around their experience in a band, and the trio starred in the Camp Rock franchise.
Because of this affiliation with Disney, they had to maintain a clean image, meaning no (open) drug use, drinking, or sex. This may have come naturally at first, though, as their father was a pastor, in a particular religious congregation. They were known for wearing purity rings, signifying a commitment to not have sex until marriage. But did Joe Jonas keep that commitment?
The virginity story
Joe Jonas recounted the story of losing his AMA in a Reddit AMA, and the story can be found in People. In 2010-2011, when Jonas was in his early 20s, he was dating Ashley Greene, known for playing Alice Cullen in the Twilight movies. When they decided to have sex for the first time, the Jonas Brothers were on tour.
But there was a problem — Jonas didn’t have any condoms. The two wanted to stay safe, so Jonas went into his roommate’s room (the band’s drummer, Jack) to search for condoms. Jonas recalled tearing the room apart, saying ” I demolished his room looking for them. Found them underneath his underwear drawer. When he came home, he thought somebody broke into his room because his whole room was demolished … ” Jonas didn’t seem to feel too bad about it, saying that tearing the room apart, “… needed to happen then and now. Safety first, kids.”
Joe Jonas has a notable relationship history
Joe Jonas’ first public relationship was in 2005 with AJ Michalka, of another Disney band, Aly & AJ. A few years later, he had a very short-lived relationship with Taylor Swift, then after that, a relationship with actor Camilla Belle. One of the most talked-about relationships Jonas had while still with Disney Channel was with Demi Lovato, though this one also lasted only a few months.
His relationship with Ashley Greene ended in 2011, and Jonas moved on from that to a relationship with Blanda Eggenschwiler, a graphic designer. This would be the longest-lasting relationship, before his marriage to Sophie Turner — but a few months before that, he was dating supermodel Gigi Hadid. He started dating Sophie Turner in 2016, and the two got engaged in 2017. They had their wedding in 2019, and their first child in 2020. It seems like Joe Jonas has finally settled down for good.
