Jaden Smith has been cast to play an alternate reality version of Kanye West in a forthcoming Showtime TV series called “Omniverse.”
According to Hollywood Reporter, the half-hour anthology series will “[examine] the many doors of perception. The first season, the one for which a pilot script has been commissioned, would explore ego through the alternative reality of West.”
Kanye West, Jaden Smith, Scooter Braun, and writer Lee Sung Jin are reportedly among the show’s executive producers.
“I’m honored and thrilled to be collaborating with everyone involved to present an alternate world through the eyes of a young man somewhere in the multiverse who happens to also be a Kanye West,” Jin said.
He added, “‘Omniverse'” is not set in our world nor about our world’s Kanye West as we aim to add a new spin on alternate realities, consciousness, and push the limits of half hour narrative.”
Jin has also penned the script for the series. His resume includes comedy-driven shows such as “Silicon Valley,” Netflix‘s “Tuca & Bertie” and Amazon‘s forthcoming animated series “Undone.”
