‘I’ve lost 10st but excess skin is harming my mental health,’ says Chanelle Hayes

She showed off her incredible weight loss journey last summer after having a gastric sleeve fitted and now Chanelle Hayes has exclusively revealed she has lost more weight again, taking her weight loss to a total of almost 10st.

The former Big Brother was 17st 4lbs when she had the gastric sleeve fitted in August 2020. Last summer, she dropped down to 9st 5lbs and now she weighs 8st.

Chanelle said: “I’m 8st now and a dress size 6-8. Last summer, I was around 9st 5lb and before having the sleeve fitted, I was a size 22 and 17st 4lb.

She added: “I’ve actually been really stressed with university deadlines and the children’s schedules with schools and their dads and I think that’s caused the weight loss.

The 37-year-old also revealed that as a result of her latest weight loss, she has ‘loose skin’ which she’d like removed as she finds it ‘ageing’

She said: “I’ve got more loose skin, so while I still feel a million times better than I did when I was unhealthy, I’m now thinking, ‘Maybe I want to do something about this,’so I’m considering a tummy tuck.”

Along with a tummy tuck, Chanelle – who underwent a hair transplant in 2020 due to hair loss as a result of her yo-yo dieting over the years – is also planning to have her breast implants removed and a boob uplift after completing her university studies next year as she believes her breasts are “disfigured” following the weight loss.

She said: “I’ll potentially get it done with the same surgery. It’s not even that they’re saggy, it’s actually a bit of disfigurement – the implants I had done in 2010 went under my muscle and my breast tissue is now under my ribs, so it’s like there are four separate breasts.

“I’d have my implants removed or perhaps switched to smaller ones. The surgeon would have to remove all the loose skin and put it back up where it meets in the middle. My nipples are doing more hanging out with my knees at the moment than my chest, so it’ll be nice to be reunited with them!”

After having the gastric sleeve fitted, the mum-of-two told fans on Instagram that having the surgery was the “best decision” she’s ever made in terms of her health.

She added that going through the experience of weight gain and weight loss over the past 14 years has given her a better understanding of private struggles and how easy it is to hide them.

She said: “Even though I’ve lost weight, I’ve grown as a person.”

Chanelle also explained the sleeve hasn’t changed her relationship with food as it is a tool which needs to be used correctly. She said: “Addressing abnormal relationships with food is so important if I want to become healthier physically and mentally.”

After being warned by doctors she was likely to become diabetic if she didn’t adopt a healthier lifestyle, Chanelle also revealed she finally enjoys exercise now because she feels “proud” to improve her body after years of “abusing” and adds she’s trying to stop focusing on other people’s weights because her only competitor is herself.
