DWTS’ Louis van Amstel’s 11-Year-Old Son Told ‘Homosexuality is Wrong’ by Substitute Teacher

Louis van Amstel has revealed that his son was bullied by an anti-gay substitute teacher.

The 47-year-old Dancing with the Stars alum recently took to Instagram to reveal that his and husband Josh‘s 11-year-old son Daniel, whom they are in the process of adopting, was told “homosexuality is wrong” by a substitute teacher.

Louis, who lives in Utah, explained that the situation occurred when the teacher asked Daniel‘s fifth grade class what they were thankful for this year.

Daniel then sweetly said that he was thankful he’s finally being adopted by his two dads.

According to students in the class, the teacher snapped back saying, “Why on earth would you be happy about that?” before going into a 10 minute lecture about how “homosexuality is wrong” and “two men living together is a sin.” She then looked at Daniel and told him, “That’s nothing to be thankful for.”

While this was happening, three girls in the class asked the teacher to stop multiple times, and when she didn’t, they walked out of the room to get the principal.

The substitute teacher was then escorted out of the building, but continued to argue her point.

“She also tried to blame our son and told him that it was his fault that she went off,” Louis shared with the Salt Lake Tribune. “It’s absolutely ridiculous and horrible what she did. We were livid. It’s 2019 and this is a public school.”

Louis then said he was “proud” of how the school handled the situation and added, “Not only did they let go of the teacher, they said this woman is never going to teach in this school ever again.”

The incident is now under investigation by the school district.

| PLEASE READ THIS | this story is too important and hits too close to home not to write about. When our son Daniel answered the substitute teachers question ‘What are you thankful for with: I’m thankful for finally being adopted by my two dads’. The teacher went onto sharing her own views on Homosexuality and that it’s wrong. three girls asked her multiple times to stop. When she didn’t they went to the principles office to complain. I’m proud of the three girls and school for standing up for our family against this bully. Im disgusted that the bully is the teacher in a public school #equalrights #allfamilies #allfamiliesmatter
