Dwight Yoakam, a singer-songwriter known for his pioneering style of country music, will be honored with the BMI President’s Award.
BMI President and CEO Mike O’Neill and Vice President, Creative, Jody Williams will host the 67th annual Country Awards ceremony to be held in Nashville on November 12.
Yoakam was selected for the award for being a songwriter who “distinctly and profoundly influenced the entertainment industry.”
“To this day, no other artist has captured country music’s past and catapulted it into the future quite like Dwight Yoakam,” said Williams.
Yoakam has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide, with five reaching the top of Billboard charts.
The multiple Grammy award winner has 12 gold albums and 9 platinum or multi-platinum albums to his name.
