Dean Henderson reveals he REFUSED to meet new Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag over fears he'd be persuaded into staying | The Sun

DEAN HENDERSON has sensationally revealed he "didn't really want" Erik ten Hag to see him in training because he knew the manager would be desperate to keep him.

The 25-year-old joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan last month.

And Henderson has admitted he refused to train in front of Ten Hag over fears the Dutchman would force him to stay at Manchester United after seeing him play.

So eager was Henderson to leave, the one-cap England man was almost out the door by the time Ten Hag arrived.

The Three Lions stopper completed his loan switch to Forest just days after Ten Hag's first session at Carrington.

Henderson fumed to talkSPORT: "I didn’t really want the manager to see me in training because I knew he’d probably want to keep me.

"I told all the hierarchy: ‘I need to go and play football. I don’t want to be playing second fiddle’.

"And it panned out so I was almost gone before the manager came in."

In an explosive rant Henderson also blasted United for wasting a year of his career by using him as a benchwarmer.

Henderson claims he was promised the No1 jersey at Old Trafford last summer – but played just THREE times all season.

David De Gea was favoured by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and then interim gaffer Ralf Rangnick.

Henderson ranted: "The conversation I had, coming out of the Euros squad (with England), was that you're coming back here to be the No1 goalkeeper.
