BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker has turned to his TV rival Ranvir Singh for some advice ahead of the first Strictly Come Dancing live show this weekend. The 44-year-old TV star, who gets up at 3am in order to host the breakfast show before hitting the training room, wanted to speak to someone who had shared a similar experience.

Ranvir was the perfect person to seek advice from as she works on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

The former Strictly contestant, who almost made it to the final last year with her professional partner Giovanni Pernice, had to deal with similar early starts during her stint on the show.

The 44-year-old political editor said it was a “unique experience” when she spoke to Dan and his partner Nadiya Bychkova via video call.

After watching a preview of their first dance routine, Ranvir took to Instagram to share an update with her 115,000 followers as she travelled by train.

“When you’ve combined breakfast TV and @bbcstrictly training it’s a unique experience!

“And a sneaky peak at your dance has brightened up my train journey!!”(sic) Ranvir wrote alongside a screenshot of their call.

Dan shared the post on his own account.

“Always great to catch up with the lovely @ranvirtv,” he added, in view of his 219,000 followers.

During her time on the show, Ranvir revealed that she would have to take naps in the afternoon in order to get through the exhausting training schedule.

She previously said that she slept at around 3pm in order to process all the information she had learnt in the rehearsal room.

Earlier this week, Dan seemed to hit a wall and fell asleep during training.

He said the 3am starts had started to catch up with him.

Alongside a picture which showed him asleep on the floor, he wrote of his partner: “She actually broke me yesterday,” followed by a laughing and sleeping emoji.

“I got down there to stretch and I was long gone.

“3am starts got me in the end,” he added with the hashtags: “#ShortsSocksSmartShoesForTheWin #TeamWalkova.”

Nadiya, who had taken the picture, revealed that he had fallen asleep while she was talking to him.

“Partner, that was the sweetest thing, I was still talking to you, but you were gone. Great chat.

“You are absolutely amazing partner, not sure I ever saw anyone in my life working as hard as you do.(sic)

“Grateful to have you as my partner! #TeamWalkova,” she added.

Dan and Nadiya will be dancing the Quickstep to Everybody Needs Somebody To Love by The Blues Brothers.

Strictly Come Dancing continues tomorrow on BBC One at 7pm.
