Candy Palmater, a comedian best known for her part in Canadian sitcom Trailer Park Boys, died on Christmas Day, aged 53. Her cause of death has not yet been revealed, but she had spent the past few weeks in the hospital before she was discharged on December 15.

Candy’s death was announced on her Instagram page by her wife Denise, in view of her 11,300 Instagram followers.

The post said: “A great glowing spirit left our world today.

“Post by Denise. I have few words. Candy passed away today at home suddenly. I will post more information soon. Denise.”

Many took to the comments to share their condolences on the sad news.

Melissagrelo said: “My heart is breaking. What a light she was in all of our lives.”

“Candy was truly a one-of-a-kind shining star who touched so many hearts and delivered too many laughs to count.
