Bethenny Frankel quit the “Real Housewives of New York City” at head-spinning speed after a “contract dispute,” we’re told.
A source said Frankel already had “one foot out the door” as negotiations for her ninth season kicked off with Bravo, and she “was confident there were options out there for her. She’s happy in her personal life with [real estate exec and film producer] Paul Bernon.”
So, Frankel went into the room in an enviable position, and threw out a huge number to see if Bravo would agree. They didn’t. So she gave a statement about her departure to Variety so fast that even some of the show’s top producers heard it first on social media.
She also threw fans into a spin by saying on Instagram that it was time to leave “RHONY” because she’s the only castmate “that is actually married.” To clarify (if anyone cares), she and Bernon didn’t get secretly married. She’s still wed to Jason Hoppy, with whom Frankel remains in a fathomless divorce and custody battle.
Frankel told Variety, “It’s time to move on and focus on my daughter, my philanthropy and my production partnership with Mark Burnett, producing and starring in shows which represent a shift in the conversation for women.”
