ALISON BOSHOFF: Pamela Anderson only truly loved Tommy Lee

ALISON BOSHOFF: Pamela Anderson, 55, reveals her first husband Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, 60, is the only man she has ever truly loved in new Netflix documentary

She’s had six weddings, two annulments and four divorces. But Pamela Anderson tells a Netflix documentary that her first husband, Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, is the only man she has ever truly loved.

In Pamela, A Love Story, released on Netflix on January 31st, she says to son Brandon: ‘I really loved your Dad for all the right reasons and I really don’t think I’ve loved anybody else. It’s ****ed.’

She adds: ‘I think I’d rather be alone than not be with the father of my kids. I think it’s impossible to be with anybody else …but I don’t think I could be with Tommy either. It’s almost like a punishment.’

Anderson, 55, was married to Lee from 1995 to 1998. They famously got married on a beach in Cancun, Mexico after a four day whirlwind courtship.

The marriage ended after Lee assaulted her while she was holding their six week old son Dylan. He was sentenced to six months in prison.

She is candid in the film about her romantic disasters – from an early love who she caught washing his penis in the sink (‘Suspicious,’ she wrote in her journal) to husband Rick Salomon who she married twice.

The first time around the union ended after she says she found his crack pipe in the Christmas tree. ‘He still to this day denies it was his,’ she says.

She also claims that actor Sylvester Stallone offered her a love contract. They dated in 1989 between Stallone’s second and third marriages.

Anderson said: ‘He offered me a condo and a Porsche to be his number one girl and I was like: ‘Does that mean there’s a number two girl? – Nuh uh’. And he’s like: ‘That’s the best offer you are going to get honey, you are in Hollywood now.’ But I wanted to be really in love, and I didn’t want anything less than that.’

Overall, Anderson has had six weddings, two annulments and four divorces in her lifetime

Other loves were actors Mario Van Peebles, Scott Baio and David Charvet. At one point in the documentary she reads an entry in her journal which says: ‘I woke up at Marios, went home to change and then went to Scott’s’ and laughs saying: ‘Why would I even write that down because God forbid you do a documentary and find out what kind of a whore you are!’

There are fond words for surfer Kelly Slater, but he was astonished to find that his girlfriend, who he was preparing to fly to Florida to meet his family, had married someone else: Tommy Lee.

Anderson tells the story of their romance for laughs, pointing out that she barely knew Lee, asking him what their married name would be (she thought he was named Tommy Lee Jones, confusing him with the actor).

On their first night together she took Ecstasy with her champagne, and the night was ‘a big happy blur.’

She says: ‘What was different about Tommy was that there were no secrets, there was no deception, there was no game playing, it was really just full on heart to heart explosive kind of love. We didn’t know anything about each other and it ended up being one of the wildest most beautiful love affairs ever.’

She was devastated after losing their first baby in a miscarriage while filming Barb Wire. And after the birth of oldest son Brandon, there were ‘red flags’ in the behaviour of Lee, who she calls: ‘talented romantic and a bad drunk.’

He was jealous, which she found ‘cute’ and would turn up on set in Baywatch and stand in her eyeline if she had romantic storylines. After she kissed an actor for a storyline, he trashed her trailer on set.

She said that the changes which came with family life made her husband feel left out, and in 1998 came a fight which ended the marriage.

‘I think Tommy went through a bit of postpartum… Tommy was going I want my wife back I want my wife back. At that point I didn’t know what to do.

‘I just said: ‘I need some ****ing help here, you’ve got to grow up. It’s not about you any more.’ I had never spoken to him that way before. I didn’t recognise him. He went black and then I started hyperventilating, scared. Brandon was shaking and screaming and holding my leg so I called 911 I put the receiver off.’

He was arrested and charged with spousal and child abuse having allegedly grabbed her by the arm and kicked her back, causing her to fall over. Lee pleaded no contest to felony spousal battery and was sentenced to six months in jail.

Lee later said that he thought she had pressed charges because ‘she wanted an easy way out of a difficult situation.’

There were rumours that they might remarry in 1999, and in 2005 Lee said that they were together again.

In the Netflix show, Anderson is filmed sifting through a pile of letters which he wrote to her from jail. ‘He really fought for us to stay together. I had to bifurcate the divorce because he wouldn’t sign the papers. But it wasn’t a grey area for me – you can’t do that.’

She wrote in her journal: ‘I’ve never loved someone so deeply and by deeply I mean I loved his soul. I feel that a part of me has died.’ She says that their coparenting was never easy, with subsequent husbands disliking Lee.

‘I think what it all comes down to is that I never got over not being able to make it work with the father of my kids.

‘Even though I thought I could recreate a family or fall in love with someone else it’s just not me.

‘I think that’s probably why I keep failing in all my relationships. My parents were wild and crazy and hurt each other and hurt us, but they are happy now.’

With Kid Rock, she didn’t experience the ‘frenzy’ of her romance with Tommy Lee. She doesn’t even mention her brief marriage to film mogul Jon Peters.

Her last husband, builder Dan Hayhurst, is dismissed in a few moments. She says: ‘He’s a good Canadian guy. Normal. I just felt like maybe I need to try that. Don’t know. Sometimes I don’t know if I’m alive or dead. I’d love to live a romantic life every day.’

Son Dylan says: ‘She loves getting married. You know, maybe it’s her favourite thing in the world.’

Pamela, A Love Story, is on Netflix from January 31st.
